You can view your business details at any time from the Tax Account page. Simply click the Details link next to your connected business profile.
This will display a live view of the information held by HMRC for your business, including general contact details (e.g. name and address), accounting period, and accounting method (e.g. cash or accrual).
- Cash Accounting – Transactions are recorded when invoices or purchases are paid.
- Accrual Accounting – Transactions are recorded when invoices or purchases are issued.
Starting from the 2026/27 tax year, you’ll be able to align your quarterly reporting periods with calendar months.
Current period:
6 April to 5 July
Updated period:
1 April to 30 June
If you’re eligible, the option to update your quarterly period will appear in the Business Details section.

Once a business is hidden it will no longer appear on the selection menu in your self assessment workflow, obligations and cumulative update lists.
