If you have a foreign property you can submit your quarterly MTD updates once you have linked your personal tax account to QuickFile. You can choose to isolate your foreign property accounting in a dedicated QuickFile account or combine it with other reporting categories through the use of nominal mapping rules.

Once you have linked your tax account to QuickFile and completed the HMRC MTD enrollment you should then see your foreign property business in the QuickFile tax account detail page.
Before you can submit an update you will first need to inform HMRC about your foreign properties. You can do this by clicking on the foreign property “details” link in the tax account detail page then selecting the option to “view and update” your foreign properties.
In this screen you can then submit information about each of your foreign properties. You will be asked to provide a name for your property of group of properties along with the country in which they are located.
From the Self Assessment Workflow in QuickFile you can select your foreign property business and view any outstanding MTD updates.
From the Workflow you can click the New Update link and select the relevant accounting period. Once your draft update appears you will be prompted to select a foreign property from a drop down list. These will be the properties you entered earlier.
You can now review your figures, apply any adjustments then submit the foreign property update to HMRC.

With QuickFile you can register as many foreign properties with HMRC as you need. However at the time of writing you can only submit information about one or multiple foreign properties within a single jurisdiction from a single QuickFile account. Where you have multiple properties in different jurisdictions we recommend segregating these to individual QuickFile accounts for ease of reporting.
